Reflection

The process of learning photoshop and working with digital photographs was a good learning experience.  It was not too difficult, but it challenged me enough to the extent that I had to work hard in order to get somewhat comfortable with the program and its practical uses.  The most challenging aspect of learning about Photoshop was getting used to navigating around the various toolbars in the software interface.
I was interested in learning Photoshop because it will help me if I get a job working behind the scenes in a local media organization.  Once I got used to getting around the program, I was able to have some fun with it while being productive and mindful of the educational task before me. Working with photos was challenging, yet fun.  The process was very much trial and error for me because of my unfamiliarity to Adobe photoshop.  Learning the functions of the tools in the program was not very difficult, but learning how to undo the effects of those tools and fix various mistakes took time.

"Most people want to change the world to improve their lives, but the world they need to change first is the one inside themselves"

Changing the world might seem like an insurmountable task, but I believe that’s because many people approach changing the world in the wrong way. They focus on trying to create wide-sweeping changes in the political and social structures around them. The problem is, these structures have been sturdy for so long that they are almost impossible to change. Once people realize that changing the world is difficult, they begin to give up on those dreams they had. They let those dreams wash away and replace them with “realistic” goals that other people give them. Maybe you’ve even experienced this yourself.

The truth is, it is possible to change the world. But to change the world, you have to change yourself first. You have to change your mentality, your habits, and your actions. It’s not easy changing yourself, but it’s necessary if you want to make a massive impact. Here are four steps that you can take today to change yourself positively and create a massive positive impact on the world.

Stop comparing yourself to others

Most people compare themselves to others. Usually this is done through social media. You go onto Instagram, or Facebook, and see other people living amazing lives that you wish you had. Maybe you see a friend of yours posting pictures of traveling the world with his fiance. Maybe you also see the same friend posing in front of a Maserati Ghibli that he recently bought. You see these pictures and start to feel bad about yourself. A dirty little secret about social media (especially pictures-based social media) is that much of it is based off of people pretending to be something they’re not. You know nothing about what’s going on with people except what’s going on in the picture  and that can leave out a lot of significant context. “It must be nice to be able to travel the world with your fiance,” you think to yourself as you look at your friend’s pictures.

Be as authentic and genuine as possible

What does it mean to be authentic and genuine? It means many things. Partly it means being principled to your beliefs, party it means not lying in an attempt to make yourself look better, partly it means stating how you actually think and feel. Most people in this situation would simply take the offer, because they believe that they won’t be able to get a better offer. That’s the inauthentic thing to do. The authentic course of action would be to voice your concerns to the employer that you believe you’re worth more than what they’re offering. You tell your employer that, given your experience, education, and skills, you believe that their offer is somewhat low but that you’d be more than willing to take the offer if they gave you anywhere between $45,000-$65,000. If they don’t offer you something within that range, you tell them that you can go to another employer who is willing to offer that amount of money.

Generosity and empathy can go a long way

Generosity and empathy are two incredibly undervalued tools. To use them properly, you must first understand what they are.
Generosity is about giving to other people without expecting anything back in return. Many people view generosity one dimensionally, unfortunately. Many people view generosity as the act of giving money away, often to charities. However, this is an incredibly limited view of what generosity is. You can be generous by giving a service, a good, money, or some advice. The second part of the previous sentence is key — you cannot expect a return when you’re being generous. If you’re giving money away simply because you expect it to raise your status, or to lower your tax liability, then you’re not being genuinely generous. Empathy is about the ability to listen to other people’s problems and understand what they are going through. You’d be surprised at what people are willing to tell you when you simply become empathetic to them and allow them to open up — I’d know! I’ve had people tell me secrets that they wouldn’t even tell their closest family members.

Improve and change what is closest to you

Many people believe that changing the world requires that you to focus on making sweeping changes in the political and social structures of the world. However, this simply isn’t true. Many people who have changed the world did so, not by focusing on changing entire nations, but by focusing on improving and changing that which they were already familiar with. Recognize that changing the world does not require making massive actions. Sometimes all it takes is trying to fix and improve what’s closest to you and affects you personally.

In Conclusion

Recognize that you can change the world — starting today — simply by changing yourself. The four steps I’ve outlined above are absolutely critical to making a positive impact on the world.
Now go out there and make a positive impact!

You can't go back and change the beginning but you can start where you are and change the ending

We all think new year as something. It seems to offer us a fresh start, a chance to forget about what troubles are behind us. At the moment that the clock hits twelve, we all let out a breath and grin. A new year. A new start. A new beginning.

We enter the new year prepared. We have a list of resolutions in our head, and we're sure that this is the year we'll make unforgettable. This year we fix everything that's wrong. The date of January 1 is full of promise, full of hope.

However, at the end of the year, we are always left unsatisfied. No matter how well the year goes, we are always left wanting more. We always this that we should have done that and I could have done that. So going into the new year, we have a new list of resolutions stockpiled in our head. It's an infinite cycle, we make resolution, yet we never seen to keep them. We see the new year as a way to start over, to create a new you, new me

Instead of this I suggest something different, something new, Why use the new year as your inciting incident? Everyday, we should be striving to become a better version of ourselves. Why wait until  January 1 to fix a problem?

The new year should be a celebration, it shouldn't be a reason for us to stress about our problems that need fixing. So this year, I resolve not to wait. To fix myself as I find problems, not to pile them until next January. Everyday of your life is a new beginning, not just the first day of the year. You can make daily resolutions, not just new year resolution. Any day is suitable for making them. Regard everyday as the beginning of your new, better and happier life. Start everyday of the year with feelings of happiness and with the anticipation that great and wonderful things are going to happen.

Everyday, restate your goals and your decisions for your new, happy and successful life. At the same time, be open to new ideas and opportunities and for ways to achieve your goals

"Love all, Spend less, Give more"

It is the time of year again. December has come and with all the joys of Christmas. But what is the real meaning of Christmas? Is it the gifts under the tree, the lights in the windows, the cards in the mail, ham dinner with family and friends, stocking in the living room and shouting of " Merry Christmas" to those who pass us in the streets? Is this really Christmas?

For many people, Christmas is a time of sorrow. They don't have the extra money to buy presents for their children, family and friends. Many are saddened at Christmas when they think of their loved ones who will not be able to come home for various reasons. Yet, Christmas can be a reason of great joy. It is a time of God showing His great love for us. It can be a time of healing and renewed strength. You see, Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of the Christ Child. God sent His son, Jesus into the world to be born. His birth brought great joy to the world. Shepherds, wise men and angels all shared in the excitement of knowing about this great event. They knew this was no ordinary day. The prophets had told of His coming hundreds of years before. The star stopped over Bethlehem just to mark the way for those who were looking for this special child.

Why did He come? Why did God send His son to this cruel and hard world? He sent Jesus to us so that one day, He would grow up to become a very important part of history. His story is one of truth, love and hope. It brought salvation to all of us. Without Jesus, we would all die in our sins. Jesus was born so one day the price could be paid for things we have done that are wrong. The bible says that all have sinned. We are all born with a sin nature. We do things that do not please God. Through the sins of Adam and Eve, we have all inherited that sin nature. We need to have that removed. The only way is through Jesus. Jesus came so he could die on the cross for all of our sins. If we believe that Jesus died for our sins, we can ask him to come into our hearts and forgive us. Then, we are clean and made whole. We can know that heaven is a place where we can go to when this life is over.

We can truly be happy at Christmas. No matter what may be happening, we can know that we are His children. We then become sons and daughters of God. Heaven will be can home one day. Look at Christmas in a new way this year. This is the year to invite Jesus into your heart. You will then have a  "Merry Christmas". The joy and peace you will receive will last all year as you look to God for all your needs to be met.

Jesus is the Reason For the Season! Rejoice.
